Mesa Marathon Recap! Sub-6 paced marathon.

Finally time for a quick recap of the highlights and lowlights.

Highlights!

Getting to chat with @neelysgracey for a few miles just one week after she ran the Olympic Trials Marathon, then watching her breeze away to the overall win. Just awesome.

Having @_stevie.ritter drag me through to mile 16ish until he ran up to 6th overall, just four years before his first Olympic Trials Marathon!

Lowlights.

I never give enough credit to hard opening downhill miles.. I was flirting with some major quad cramps from mile 18-26. I bled away about 2 minutes, but it could have been worse. Made some good late pacing decisions for once.

It rains in the desert??

Overall:

Running sub-6 for a marathon was a goal I was fighting for through the last 10 miles and I'm happy I held on to it. I missed my target of 2:35, but it was still a PR by over 7 minutes so I'll live. Time to focus on the tri season from here on out, which means a big bike/swim builds are coming soon.. So my running goals? Just hold on to what I built up for this one and I should be set up for a pretty solid year!
